Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News aggregator. It displays information using Feature Channels such as Color, Size and Spacial Layout. News stories are grouped together based on type of news such as, World, Nation, Business, etc. and each category is given a color. Headlines that are bigger are more important/have greater coverage, and the darkness of the square represents how old the article is. The website allows to you to customize the information displayed based on categories, country, etc. I find digital information design such as this to be very interesting and it certainly relates to my curriculum as a Design major.
